- CHARLIE & THE PIRATE OF STEVESTON
Charlie's dad gets a new job and they have to move from their tiny apartment in New York to Steveston, a fishing village near Vancouver, Canada.
Missing his friends, and feeling strange in the new town, Charlie is not happy with the change.
One morning, in their mailbox, Charlie finds a big red envelope from a mysterious ‘Pirate’ inviting him to follow a clue. This ‘game’ becomes periodic and, as Charlie meets new kids in the neighbourhood through his adventures, he invites them in on the treasure hunt that help them all learn more about their community.
The final clue leads Charlie to discover that his old Japanese neighbour was the man behind the game and that the “treasure” for the hunt is Big Red, a puppy named after a dog that was a part of Steveston in the 80’s. Charlie shares this news via telephone with his New Yorker friends, as he invites them to come for a visit.
The story includes non-fiction facts of Steveston.
